There are thousands of secret structures, underground tunnels, temples and hidden paths in one of most visited and interesting place in Peru – The Sacred Valley. They still remain untouched and somehow resist of the vast amount of tourist crossing it every day. The Valley is also called Urubamba Valley because of the great river ofUrubamba. It is situated over the mountains North from Cuzco in the heart of the Inca’s Empire, and it connects the south and north parts of the Ancient Inca’s Trails and it is home of the famous Sacsayhuamán Temple plus few other big temples and buildings. The ancient city of Machu Picchu is not far from here.
The Temple and Spiritual place like “The Head of the Inca” has remained a mystery for researchers, because it was not possible first to find it-without help from the local Inca’s community and second-you need to know where to stand and look so you can see it. Are they natural formations or they are carved by the hands of the Inca’s sculptors.
The area is well known with the underground network of secret Cuzco’s tunnels and temples like “Templo de la Luna”(last time we visit this place temple entrance was blocked by concrete panel), “Three steps Temple”and many others.
Hundreds of urban explorers are trying from years to go and explore some of the tunnel’s paths. The myths saying that no one ever return from this explorations. Some people saying that there is conspiracy and some ancient organization is still taking care for protection and conservation of the tunnels.
The head of the Inca is actually a small temple where locals provisioning small gifts from coca and food to Pachamama – Mother Earth. It is still used from many Pachamama followers. The “head” can be seen from the bottom of the small valley under Sacsayhuamán Temple area.
One interesting thing is that there you can find a big rock in front of the entrance on top of which there is small hole for water collecting used for divination and foretelling. This detail shoes us that the place was not only used for offerings but also for a temple for foretelling and spiritual activities. Our guide mentioned that the temple rocks are place where powers of fertility was concentrated. Many young girls came here to look for help in cases of problems with sterility
